A Halloween Family Special

Youth & Community Centre - Llanfyllin SY22 5DR, United Kingdom

Online Sale Ended

Description

Arts Connection brings a Roald Dahl themed Halloween adventure to Llanfyllin during the October half term, Tue 25 Oct. First every child will get to carve a pumpkin and families shall explore the scarier creatures of the famous writer with creepy craft activities. The second part will be an interactive story telling session with Milly Jackdaw - “Troll Tales Told To Dahl".

Roald Dahl spent his childhood summer holidays with his family in Norway, where his Grandmother told him folktales populated with one eyed trolls, friendly giants and child eating witches. These darkly absurd, often grotesque and magical stories clearly influenced his writing. Discover tales from the Norwegian folk tradition of butterball boys, forest trolls, headless hags and wily foxes, where folk shift shape and resourceful young hero's outwit the wicked. In between she sprinkles extracts from well-known Dahl stories and invites the listeners to spot the connections. Get it right and win some Invisible Chocolate (honest).

Milly Jackdaw is a professional actor and inspires wonder in the natural world through her storytelling. She enjoys exploring how landscape, human psyche and folklore all reflect each other and is inspired by the power of stories to mirror our own journey and help us along the way.
